Meet Miranda

As the founder of Berry Blossom Montessori, I believe that children are capable, independent individuals who thrive when given meaningful opportunities to participate in everyday life. My greatest inspiration came from watching my own son develop confidence and independence through practical life experiences. Seeing the joy and pride he gained from pouring his own water, helping prepare food, and caring for his environment inspired me to create a Montessori community centered on community, independence, and hands-on learning.

At Berry Blossom Montessori, our curriculum emphasizes practical life activities that strengthen fine motor skills, concentration, and self-confidence. Each morning, children gather together for a self-serve continental breakfast as a community. During this special time, children practice real-life skills such as slicing with child-safe knives, pouring, scooping, spreading, and serving themselves while engaging in conversation and building meaningful relationships with their peers. These experiences foster independence, cooperation, and a strong sense of belonging.

After working in Montessori environments and raising my own son, I founded Berry Blossom Montessori to create the kind of peaceful, relationship-centered community I wanted for children and families. I believe that independence, meaningful work, and strong connections form the foundation for lifelong learning.

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I developed a deep appreciation for nature and the many opportunities it provides for exploration and discovery. I enjoy swimming, river and creek walks, and spending time outdoors with my two dogs. These experiences have strengthened my belief that children flourish when they are connected to both their community and the natural world.

I value careful observation, thoughtful documentation, and strong partnerships with families. By working collaboratively with parents and understanding each child as an individual, I strive to create an environment where every child feels seen, capable, and empowered to reach their full potential.

At Berry Blossom Montessori, my goal is to provide children with a warm and nurturing community where they can develop independence, refine their fine motor skills, build meaningful relationships, and cultivate a lifelong love of learning.

"Practical life is my deepest passion in Montessori education. Watching a child's face light up when they independently slice a banana or pour water without spilling — that moment of mastery changes everything about how they see themselves."
